Conservation
Community awareness and the "hands-on" involvement and participation that is provided at CrocTalk Conservation has helped even in the classroom by discussing the importance of environmental education, and effective learning programs. All of this awareness, the partners believe is necessary to create a balance when talking and discussing crocodilian concerns and the importance of conserving this wonderful species.
CrocTalk focuses on their Biology & Ecology, history on planet and the study and observation of the six species in their educational facility. This facility is also able to boast of some of the inhabitants responding to their own names and understanding certain commands. All ready and willing to respond to Mr. Illman with these unique actions…for all to witness!
Their immune system also is discussed and the recent study and successes of those studies.
The crocodilian species as a whole has unique purpose regardless of geography and the maintaining of the balance in an areas ecosystem – fish, movement of water, plant life, other animals that live in the area – when you kill these animals you upset the balance in that environment. It stops the transfer of bacteria from one pond to another pond and even birds are effected in any area where there are crocodilians and then not.
CrocTalk also focuses on the numbers of American Alligators and American Crocodiles in the states of Florida, Texas and Louisiana and the necessary need in those states of harvestation. Part of their educational program involves what is actually used with the hide, internal organs, skeletal remains and the meat that is saved from the animal. The good news is, there is no waste and it too is important that the visitors understand the process and it’s importance in the actual controlling of the species from getting our of control resulting in over population. This harvestation also provides a positive balance to the eco system and the much needed revenue for some communities to in fact survive in the US and in other countries that participate is this process. All is apart of the reality of conservation of this ancient species.
The partners also talk about the successful breeding programs and the growth of some of the species and the necessary continuance of those said programs to maintain stability of the endangered species.
Within the CrocTalk facility the partners provide a safe clean simulated environment regarding food, water & air temperature, and thus utilizes the species in the educational program to teach people that these are not pets and to stop the cycle of this needless possession, yet still install the reality that they are “Our Friends from a Distance” as Mr. Illman constantly reinforces to his visitors!
Join the folks at CrocTalk Conservation and Rescue for a “Unique Journey into the World of Crocodilians”. A visit you won’t soon forget!
